Martina studied computer sciences at the University of Dortmund. After receiving her diploma in 2008 she worked as a software engineer, since December 2010 she is working as scientific researcher at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences as co-worker of Prof. Bartz-Beielstein at the SpotSeven Lab.
Additionally, she is Ph.D. student at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science in the Natural Computing Group headed by Prof. Dr. Thomas Bäck.
Her main research interests are Global Optimization, Sequential Optimization, Surrogate Modelling and Ensemble Building. She is currently working on ensemble-based response-surface-modeling for sequential parameter optimization.
